Lieut.-Col John Richardson Wilkinson, one of the most highly respected
citizens of the town of Leamington, a son of John W. and Jane (Richardson) Wilkinson, was born in Mersea Twp, County of Essex, Ont., Sept. 21, 1837. His grandfather was born in Pennsylvania and emigrated to Canada previous to the war of 1812, being a U.E. Loyalist. He settled at a place called Belle Point, in Mersea township, County of Essex, where he engaged in agricultural pursuits during the remainder of his well-spent life...
John W. Richardson[sic], father of Col. Wilkinson, was born in Ohio, and came to Mersea township in early boyhood, being reared to maturity on the homestead farm...
