Leamington Post, 18 June 1936:
Earl McCormick's Body Found - The body of Earl McCormick, Pelee Island fisherman, who was drowned along with Captain Guy McCormick when their motor launch swamped in Lake Erie off Point Pelee, was recovered Monday afternoon by the steamer Frontenac, an oil tanker, and was brought to Amherstburg. The body, badly decomposed, was picked up between Colchester and the Middle Island Light.
Dr. E. C. Harris, coroner, reviewed the body and established identity by a driver's license found in a pocket of the clothing. He then released the remains to the James H. Sutton firm of undertakers.
The two disappeared after leaving Leamington on June 2 with a cargo of gasoline for Pelee Island. Wreckage of the boat was found in the lake as were drums of gasoline.
The body will be taken to Pelee Island tomorrow morning where funeral services will be held at 2:30 in the afternoon. Interment will be made in Pelee cemetery.
