Obituary, Leamington Post, 25 May 1939:
Pelee Island Woman Passes in Hospital - A few days after she was admitted to Hopewell Hospital here suffering with heart trouble, Mrs. Lena McCormick, an old and highly respected resident of Pelee Island, passed away on Tuesday of this week. She was in her 71st year.
Born in Germany, she was the widow of Guy McCormick, well-known sailor and mail-carrier who perished in Lake Erie three years ago when an explosion wrecked the boat in which he was returning to Pelee from the mainland.
Surviving the late Mrs. McCormick are one son, Harry of Leamington, and two daughters. The body was taken to Pelee Island last evening for interment there.
