MARRIAGE BELLS HANDY-JOHNSON
Pretty Home Wedding at Pine Villa, Highgate.
A very pretty home wedding was celegrated on July 10th at Pine Villa, the residence of Mr. Collins Handy, Jr., - when his only remainging daughter, Mabel C., was united in marriage to Mr. Albert Johnson, of Selton, Ont.
The father gave the bride away at 5 p.m. Miss Daisy McFarlane, Jackson, Mich., presided at the piano, and Mr. Morse Handy and Miss Leona Watson, brother and cousin of the bride, acted as groomsman and bridesmaid prespectively, while Miss Mary McMillan, cousin of the groom, made a very pretty flower girl.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. W. Rivers of Belgrave, after which a beautiful solo was rendered by Mrs. S. T. Handy, of Sault St, Marie Mich.
The bride looked exceedingly lovely robed in a gown of point-de-sprit over cream taffeta and carried a bouquet of bridal roses. The bridesmaid wore a dress of pink silk coline trimmed with lace and insertion and carried a bouquet of pink carnations.
The groom's gift to the bride was a gold watch, to the bridesmaid a crescent of pearls, and to the groomsman a pair of cuff links, and to the little flower girl a beautiful ring.
After congratulations, about seventy-five sat down to a very sumptuous wedding dinner, served on the lawn by ten of the bride's lady friends.
Guests were present from the Soo, Manitoba, California, Wisconsin, Chatham, Blenheim, Ridgetown, Highgate., etc. The grandfather, Mr. Collins Handy, sr., who is past 96 years of age, enjoyed the occasion equal to the youngest.
The bride received many beautiful presents and left for her new home amid showers of rice and good wishes.
