Chatham Daily News, 4 January 1900:
A Howard Wedding - The residence of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Everitt was the scene of a very pleasant event the other evening, being the marriage of their daughter Emma to Archibald McTavish, of Botany, in the presence of about eighty of the immediate friends of the contracting parties. About five o'clock the beautiful strains of the wedding march brought the bridal party to the drawing room, where the impressive ceremony of the Methodist church was performed by Rev. Mr. Burdette, of Ridgetown. The bride looked very handsome in a dress of organdie, trimmed with valencienness and carrying a bouquet of chrysanthemums. She was assisted by her sister, Miss May Everett, while Alexander McTavish ably officiated in the capacity of groomsman. After the wedding supper had been enjoyed by all present, the company was entertained by the Everitt quartette, and other high class musicians, until about midnight, when the newly wedded couple left for Grand Rapids, and other western parts. The happy couple, after a short honey-moon, will take up their residence at Botany, where they are general favorites, and will be welcomed by a host of well-wishing friends.
