Mickle - Andrew Kemp Mickle, who was born in Malden Township September 1, 1830, in Harrow at his son Reuben Mickle's Saturday June 29, 1907. ... He was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Amherstburg. The deceased was a son of the late James Mickle who was of Scotch descent. His mother was Elizabeth Kemp, sister of the late Simon Kemp. She died 50 years ago. Mr. Mickle married twice. His first wife was Lucinda Cornwall, daughter of the late Wheeler Cornwall of Colchester. She died 53 years ago. The only child of this marriage was Henry J. Mickle of Amherstburg...

... the chairman called upon Henry Mickle, who welcomed them all and gave a short address in which he referred to William Mickle as the original head of the Mickle clan, who had come from Aryshire, Scotland, before the American revolution. About 1793 he was engaged in the construction of the British Government navy at Fort Malden and later at York (now Toronto), where he died of typhoid fever. He said there were about 600 descendents...

William McCormick (2) was born in Colchester South, April 3, 1817. He was one of the young men who gave the warning to the troops when the island was attacked in 1838. He married Miss Esther Buchanan, born in the same locality in 1822, and her people were farmers, who were living on Pelee Island at the time of their death. The children born to William and Esther McCormick were: Frances, the wife of Henry Nichols[sic], of Pelee Island; Eugene W.; William J., of Pelee; Mary E., the wife of Hamilton Cornwall, also of Pelee Island; Alice E., wife of George Jasperson, of Kingsville. William McCormick was a Conservative politically, and both he and his wife were members of the Church of England. His death occurred in 1869, and hers eighteen years later...
