Nathan (Nate) Kerby
Cornwall
Romantic Kent, The Tale of Thamesville, pp. 373-378:
A gracious and observant English traveler, Sir Richard Bonnycastle, in the summer of 1845 put up for a night at Freeman's Inn, conducted by Norman L. Freeman, near the later site of Thamesville...Freeman's Inn was west of the later limits of Thamesville, though apparently not as far west as Cornwall's Creek, where a settlement had sprung up about the mill...
...Because of the mill, Cornwall's, a little to the west, was the business centre in the early days. There, in 1834, the Thamesville post office was established, with Nathan Cornwall as postmaster...
The Jackman, Sanford, Hubbell, Wallace and Ingall families were among the early Thamesville settlers...
Thamesville quite early developed a cultural life all its own. As early as 1887, folk flocked to see traveling shows and stock productions at the Ferguson Opera House. Thamesville's own dramatic group, working on Little Theatre lines in an era before the name had been heard of, produced its own plays, in which such talent as W. R. Davies, George Hady, Nate Cornwall, Billy Albertson and Lyda Duffies took more or less stellar roles...
Thamesville Herald, Thursday 7 October 1909
Hubbell Reunion - ...
Prindle Hubbell, his wife and four children, came to Canada in the year 1795, and purchased about 125 acres of land from Jacob Grant, being the front part of Lot 12, western boundary in the Township of Howard in the county of Kent. There were five children born to them after they settled in Howard Township.
...
His fourth daughter Annie married Nathan Cornwall, grandfather of Nate K. and Miss Rose of Thamesville. They had four sons and one daughter, Hamilton, Matthew, Joshua, Wellington and Louisa.
