Obituary, Leamington Post, 8 August 1940:
Pelee Island Man Buried Last Sunday - Funeral services for the late John Star McCormick, a well-known resident of Pelee Island for many years, were held from his late home to St. Mary's Church on the island last Saturday afternoon. The late Mr. McCormick died on Thursday at the age of 66 years.
He was born on Pelee Island a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. B. McCormick and when a young man married Miss Margaret Kalahan. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Lawrence Thomas and Allan on Pelee Island, and Mrs. William Barrett, Windsor
For a number of years the late Mr. McCormick was manager of the Breeze Point Club on the island. At other times during his lifetime he managed a hotel on the island, conducted a pool-room for ten years and for three years conducted the Leamington Hotel in Leamington. He was well-known on the island where he had many friends. Last year he was president of the Pelee Island Chamber of Commerce.
