McCormick - In Colchester South, the oldest resident of this township died Tuesday morning, March 26th, 1901 in the person of Mrs. Alexander McCormick aged 97 years, 3 months and 2 days... Her maiden name was Mary Lidwell and she was a daughter of the late Thomas Lidwell... In 1821 or thereabouts she was united in marriage to Alexander McCormick, who predeceased her some 29 years ago. To them were born eleven children: ... John now in the Yukon district and Thomas and Robert of Pelee Island...

Obituary, Leamington Post, 20 April 1922:
Sudden Passing of Thos. L. McCormick - Mr. Thos. L. McCormick died suddenly about 1 o'clock today at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. B. W. Wigle, Albert street, with whom he had resided for over two years. A year ago he suffered from a stroke of paralysis which left him in a poor state of health. Today he was seized again while sitting up in bed eating his dinner, expiring within a few minutes.
Mr. McCormick was born at Oxley, Colchester Township, and was married twice. Two daughters survive by his first wife, Mrs. B. W. Wigle, Leamington, and Mrs. W. C. Lord, 3rd Con., Mersea. By his second wife who predeceased him some years ago, one son survives, Mr. Guy McCormick, and one daughter, Mrs. Elmo Diffenbach, both of Pelee Island.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday evening at 8 o'clock at the residence of Mr. Wigle, and Saturday morning the remains will be taken to Pelee Island for burial in the family plot there.

Arthur Montgomery McCormick, postmaster and merchant on Pelee Island ... was married in Colchester township, County of Essex, Ont., Nov. 25, 1856, to Esther McCormick, who was born in Colchester township, daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Lidwell) McCormick...
Mrs. McCormick is an intelligent woman, devoted to her home, husband and family, and is a good Christian. She is also a descendant of the McCormick family, her father, Alexander McCormick, having been a son of Alexander, the first settler, and brother of William, who settled on Pelee Island. He was a farmer and land owner of Colchester township, where he was engaged in general farming and stock raising, owning a tract of 400 acres near Oxley, where he spent his life, and where he married Mary Lidwell, who lived to the ripe age of ninety-seven years. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Huffman, of Oxley. Their children were as follows: (1)Nancy married Walter Grubb, of Colchester, and is deceased. (2)William I. died at Yale, British Columbia. (3)Elizabeth married Henry Wigle, of Essex. (4)Mary Jane married Walter Grubb, of Pelee Island. (5)Eliza married Angus Huffman, of Colchester township. (6)Thomas resides on Pelee Island. (7)John is in the Yukon district of Alaska. (8)Esther married Arthur M. McCormick, of Pelee Island. (9)Robert D. resides on Pelee Island. (10)Lucinda, widow of Florin F. Mickle, resides in British Columbia. (11)Margaret S. married Samuel Huston, and resides in Detroit.

Burwell W. Wigle, a member of one of the oldest and most prominent families of this part of the County of Essex, is an enterprising farmer here, and one of the leading men and substantial citizens of Gosfield township, which he is serving as councillor. The Wigle family is a large and influential one.

On Aug. 29, 1878, Mr. Wigle was united in marriage with Ella D. McCormick, daughter of Thomas L. and Jane (Rudes) McCormick, and they have had the following children: Roy Adelbert, born June 10, 1879, died Jan. 20, 1881; Erie Alberta; Vera Elfreda; Cora May; and Laura Margery...
