Obituaries from Michigan GenWeb, Kent County, posted by Debra Eddy:
HEART ATTACK FATAL TO BARRY COUNTY HUNTER A well-known Hastings sportsman, Loren A. Myers, 56, R3 Hastings, Leach Lake, suffered a fatal heart attack about 10 a.m. Sunday while hunting with his wife, Annie, and friends in Blue Lake township near Kalkaska. Mr. Myers, who formerly was in the restaurant business here and at one time operated the Stag Lunch on Court street, apparently died suddenly. Mrs. Myers said she and Loren were hunting in the same area. He had fired at a buck about 9 o'clock, and she had gone to see him. They checked the tracks of the buck, and then separated again. When she went over to him a while later, he was dead. Mr. Myers was born in Woodland township on May 20, 1903, the son of Hugh and Minnie (Demaray) Myers. He married Annie Jarman in Hastings on Nov. 28, 1922... In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Hugh, of Cornelius, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Elwyn (Jean Ann) Raffler, R2 Woodland, and Mrs. Wayne (Shirley) Decker, Hastings; eight grandchildren... Burial was in the Irving township cemetery.
