Nota individual

In these records, and the records for her children, Helena is referred to as: Elizabeth E./Elinor E./Ellan/Helen/Helena E./Ellen/Helen E./Helena Hubble/Hellan Hubban/Ellen E./Helen Hubble. I don't have any idea which is right. I've chosen Helena for her first name since that's on her headstone, and Elizabeth as her second because there is consistently an E for that initial and Ellen seems more likely to be a corruption of Helena.

Obituray - Mrs. William Pickard. One of the oldest residents of this community in the person of Mrs. William Pickard, Sr., passed away Saturday afternoon following an illness of two weeks, at the home of her son, Bert.
Mrs. Pickard, who before her marriage was Ellen Hubbell, celebrated her 78th birthday last July. She was born on the River Road in Howard Township, about one and a half miles west of Thamesville and lived in the community nearly all her life. She was the daughter of Charles Hubbell and Annie Minshall. Her husband, William Pickard, a night constable, died several years ago of a bullet wound. He was shot while on duty.
Two daughters, Mrs. C. Wheeler, of Cleveland, and Mrs. H. Boyle, of Windsor, and three sons, Bert, with whom she made her home, and William, of Thamesville, and James, of Windsor, survive, with one sister Mrs. Herb Street of Thamesville. Another sister, Mrs. M. McLaughlin, of Windsor, died three years ago.
The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from the residence of her son Bert, to the United Church, where service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. C. Copeland.
Many from the community attended and a number of beautiful floral offerings bore tribute to the esteem in which she was held. During the service Mr. Herb Minshall sang "Rock of Ages."
The pall-bearers were Messrs. Robt. Trudell, Wilfred Filby, Ed Martin, Fred Cudmore, John McEachren and John Richardson.
Interment was made in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
