Thamesville Herald, Thursday 13 July 1922
Mrs. Rose Secord Passes Away Sunday - The death of Mrs. Rose Secord at her home in Atlanta, Georgia, early Sunday evening, removes one who has been widely known in Thamesville and throughout the surrounding townships for many years. The deceased lady, whose maiden name was Rose Best, was born near Northwood about 55 years ago, and had been ill since the middle of April when she underwent a most serious operation, the effects of which had confined her to her room ever since. Mrs. Secord removed to Atlanta about two years ago and had made her home there with her sons, Lloyd and Roy. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Ladies' Aid, Women's Missionary Society and also took an active part in other branches of church work. Her husband, the late Henry Secord, predeceased her ten years ago. Besides her two sons, Lloyd and Roy of Atlanta, deceased leaves two sisters and a brother to mourn her loss, Mrs. Geo. Barker of Howard township and Mrs. G. W. Martin of Windsor, and Mr. Wm. Best of Thamesville.
The funeral will take place this (Thursday) afternoon, from the residence of her brother, Mr. Wm. Best, Sarah street, Thamesville, where the service will be conducted a 2 o'clock, p.m., by Rev. C. C. Kaine, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
