Death of Mrs. Eliza Secord. The death took place on Saturday afternoon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. R. Fysh, Howard, of Mrs. Eliza A. Secord, widow of the late James A. Secord, aged 84 years and 15 days.
The late Mrs. Secord was born on Nov 17th, 1827, on the old Hubbell farm near the railroad bridge. She was the daughter of Wheeler Hubbell, who was born on the same farm in the pioneer days of this section of the country. With the exception of visits, Mrs. Secord resided all her life within three miles of where she was born. She married James Secord, who pre-deceased her some 21 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church. For the last 12 years or so Mrs. Secord has resided in the village. She is survived by three daughters and two sons: James, of Sanilac Co., Mich.; Mrs. Geo. R. Fysh, Mrs. Wm. Graves of Ridgetown, Wm. Secord and Mrs. W. Burchell of Detroit. Also two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Palmer; Mrs. Murray of California, and Mr. Ammon Hubbell, Howard.
Mrs. Secord was well-known to the whole community and her many kind actions and cheerful disposition had won her many friends.
The funeral took place on Thursday, to the Everitt cemetery, and was conducted by Rev. W. J. Ashton. The pallbearers were Messrs. Wm. Pelfrey, Harry Fysh, Juston Henderson, Wm. Cudmore, Herbert Stanton and Ernest Stanton.
