Mary Ann McDonald - The death of the late Mrs. Mary Ann McDonald, widow of the late Anslem McDonald, removed another pioneer resident of the district. Mrs. McDonald, who had reached the ripe old age of 81 years, 7 months and 29 days, was born in Camden township where she had resided until the last fifteen years. Married in 1860 the then young couple moved to the McDonald homestead immediately east of Thamesville, the farm now occupied by Mr. L. D. Hubbell. Upon leaving the farm they moved into the village, residing here for about fifteen years. After the death of Mr. McDonald, deceased went to Detroit, and about seven years ago to Saskatchewan. Mrs. McDonald returned to this vicinity at New Years of this year and had been at the home of her son, Mr. Randall McDonald since. She had not complained of illness and had been around as usual conversing with the family Thursday morning. She had walked from the living room to her bedroom, and passed away very suddenly. The funeral took place from the residence of her son, Mr. Randall McDonald, Lot 1, Con. 13, Baseline, Camden, on Saturday, March 31st, services being conducted by Rev. E. Stephens, with interment in the Mayhew cemetery. Members of the family who survive are: Randall of Camden, William of Detroit, Samuel and Sandy of Saskatchewan, Mrs. L. Barnes of Courtright and Miss Mary of Camden; also three brothers and one sister, Robert Dodman of Ridgetown, James of Detroit, Edward of Saskatchewan and Mrs. A. Gee of Alvinston.
