"This most highly respected resident of Howard Township was born in that township, on the river Thames, August 6, 1816, a son of Randall and Polly (Hubbell) McDonald, who were among the very first settlers in the County of Kent...
"Randall McDonald, the only son, served in the war prior to his marriage to Polly Hubbell which took place in 1815. They settled on the river Thames... Nine of their ten children grew to maturity, and
as noted Alexander was the eldest, the others being Sallie, born in 1817, the widow of Allen Lipscomb, resides in Oakland County, Michigan, with her family of five chldren, Randall, Miles, Anselm, Allen and Polly...

1904; she was 86. ca 8 Apr 1834 when Sarah 'Sallie' was 16, she married Allen LIPSCOMB, in Chatham Twp., Kent Co, Ontario, Canada. Born ca 13 Jul 1803 in Canada West, Ontario, Canada. Allen died in Woodland, Barry Co, MI on 23 Jul 1869; he was 66.
