"Alexander McDonald was born in the log house in the early days of his parents' pioneer life in Howard Township... Here Mr. McDonald grew to sturdy manhood, and on March 18, 1841, he was married to Isabella Smith, who was born in Scotland, June 23, 1823, daughter of Robert and Isabel Smith, highly esteemed residents of the County of Kent... Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. McDonald, two dying in childhood. Of the others we have the following record--...Isabel, born in 1858, is a widow of James Simmington, who settled in the Northwest of Canada and left children - Walter, William, Edward, James, Percey, Mary and Edith...

Moose Jaw Times Herald, 17 April 1940 - You Remember? (From the Files of The Times-Herald):
Forty Years Ago - April 17, 1900: Pursant to announcement, the provisional hospital committee met in the Town Hall to formulate a scheme for the erection of a general hospital in Moose Jaw. In response to an invitation and the decision of the committee at its first meeting, the following were elected members of the committee by the different societies named: Jno. Rutherford, I.O.O.F., J. M. Simington, A.O.U.W.; ... At the meeting the following gentlemen were present: ... J. M. Simington, ... On a motion by Simpson and Simington, Messrs. Hitchcock, Hopkins and Grierson were appointed a committee to ascertain the cost of a suitable hospital and the necessary steps to become legally organized and any other information that will assist in the successful carrying out of the scheme and report at the next meeting.

...Walter Simington, ..., died at his home in Regina Thursday morning...
He was born New Year's Day, 1876, the son of James M. and Isabelle Simington, who were natives of Ontario, where they grew to maturity and were married. In 1882, the Simington family moved to Winnipeg and a year later continued further across the plains to settle in Moose Jaw when Walter Simington was only seven years of age.
They arrived in April, 1883, and two years later James M. Simington, father of the deceased, engaged in the bakery and confectionery business in Moose Jaw, which he operated until he was killed in a hunting accident in 1900. He supplied bakery products to the soldiers stationed in Moose Jaw during the Riel Rebellion, and was a member of the transport troop during the uprising. He served for a number of years as an alderman.
Mrs. Simington, the mother of the deceased, survived her husband until she was killed in a railroad accident in California 13 years later...
He was married in 1898 to Miss Elizabeth Mathieson, of Winnipeg...
He leaves to mourn, his widow, two sons, William, at Glendale, Cal.,and Edwin, in Regina; one daughter, Mrs. D. Forster, Moose Jaw; four brothers, William, Moose Jaw; Edwin in San Diego, Cal.; James, at Pasadena, Cal., and Percy, in Winnipeg; also two sisters, Mrs. H. E. Miller, of Toronto, and Mrs. Edith Chisholm, in Pasadena, Cal.
