EZRA SHERMAN HUBBELL, the oldest hardware merchant in Thamesville, one of that city's most prominent business men, is descended from one of the eary settlers of the County of Kent. The first of the family of whom there is any authentic record was Prindle Hubbell, his great-grandfather, who was born in Conneticut, but migrated to Ontario and settled in Howard, County of Kent, at an early day. There he died in 1828. His children were Lucinda, Wheeler, Rufus, Lyman, Andrew, Sally, Abigail, Anna. and Polly (who married Mr. McDonald). All of this family resided in the County of Kent, and are now deceased.

Prindle Hubbell, his wife and four children, came to Canada in the year 1795, and purchased about 125 acres of land from Jacob Grant, being the front part of Lot 12, western boundary in the Township of Howard in the county of Kent. There were five children born to them after they settled in Howard Township.
