Amos became a Baptist minister, who served pastorates in the midwest. He and Alvira married in Bloomfield, the outskirts of Detroit, MI.; she was born in Oakland Co., MI.

The family lived in Ohio, where Gertrude and Judson were born, and in Penn. where LaRue was born, although the 1900 census places LaRue's birth in New York State. When the children were young, the family settled in DeKalb Co., IL. where they remained for many years. Perhaps it was in Kingston Twp. where Amos and Alivira were listed in 1900 with LaRue still at home.
