Our earliest known ancestor's name is shown in a brief statement in the records of Fairfield County, CT. USA. as follows:

"Thomas Brush son of John Brush, born about 1610, settled in Southold, Long Island, Previous to 1657."

Also, as already cited, from F. G. Mather's The Refugees of 1776 from Long Island to Connecticut and from H. G. Platt's Huntington, New York:

"John Brush of Southold was the father of Thomas and Richard who removed to Huntington, Long Island."

We do not know where in England John Brush and his forebears resided. It is quite certain that John did not come to these shores.
