DEATH TAKES PICKFORD MAN
Charles Harrison, 79, Passes Away Wednesday
Pickford, July 8-- Charles Harrison, 79, died at his home west of Pickford at 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 1932. He would have been 80 years old July 14. Mr. Harrison was born in Yorkshire, England, July 14, 1852. From there he moved with his parents to Guelph, Ontario. He married Elizabeth O'Neill, daughter of Henry and Sarah O'Neill, on December 6, 1876, in St. James' Church, Clandeboye, Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison lived for many years in Ailsa Craig, Ontario. To them were born 7 children. In September, 1889, the family moved to Pickford and settled west of the village. Mr. Harrison acquired several hundred acres of land.
In December, 1926, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, surrounded by all of their family and many friends.
Mr. Harrison was severely injured din an automobile accident in the summer 1924 and his health slowly failed. About three weeks ago he became too weak to get about.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his widow, six children, Robert H., Alex, Wilfred, Percy, Mrs. Sadie Wise and Mrs. Cora Rye, and 36 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of Pickford. One son Lewis died in April 1919.
The funeral services were at the home at 2 o'clock this afternoon, July 8. The Rev. William Maltas of Pickford and the Rev. S. Hocking of St. Ingnace preached. Burial was in the Cottle Cemetery.
