Worker in Red Cross is Dead - Mrs. Arthur Atkinson, 66, honorary president of the Free Kindergarten board and hostess at Tuxedo Red Cross Reception during the Prince of Wale's visit in 1919 died Thursday afternoon in the home of A. E. Scott, 359 Wellington Crescent. She had been ill for several months.
Her husband, who died in 1905, was a leading member of the Winnipeg Grain exchange. He joined the exchange in 1881. Mrs. Atkinson leaves a brother and sister, both in Toronto.
The funeral will take place from Mr. Scott's home ... to St. John's cemetery...
Mrs. Atkinson had a wide circle of friends in the city and was noted for her good work with the Red Cross society and the Free Kindergarten. She came to Winnipeg in 1882 as a bride. Her maiden name was Helen B. Ritchie.
