Mrs. Alfred Blackwell - Mrs. Alfred Blackwell, nee Rose Russell, observed her 71st birthday anniversary on Saturday, March 13. An only daughter, Annie Mary Blackwell, spent the day with her parents.
Mrs. Blackwell was born at Big Springs, Hastings co., Ont., and came to Manitoba in 1900. The following year she was married to Mr. Blackwell at the home of her brother, the late Smith Russell, at Strathclair, by Rev. Hooper, of Shoal Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell still live on the farm a mile east of the village, and nothing delights their hearts more than the visits of their friends and neighbors.

Next article:

John Hodgins - Monday, March 15, was the 85th birthday anniversary for John Hodgins, who lives one mile north and a half a mile east of the village. Mr. Hodgins is a familiar site in town, and customarily makes the trip afoot, a practice which has extended over many years.
Mr. Hodgins was born at Kincardine, Ont, and came west in 1881. The previous year he had been married to Miss Ellen Blackwell, sister of Mr. Blackwell mentioned above. Mrs. Hodgins died in 1918. The farm which they established shows every mark of care. Mr. Hodgins still takes a keen interest in the work of the farm.
A son, Bolton, lives at Strathclair, and two others, Ben and John, reside with their father. An only daughter is Mrs. John Scott, of Strathclair. There are two grandchildren.
