     On April 29, 1844, Theodore Scratch was married to Sarah Loop, by whom he had three children: Alfred, now a prosperous business man of Fitzgerald, Georgia; Sydney, who died of fever while serving in the American rebellion, in 1863, at the age of seventeen years, and was buried in Virginia; and Josiah, who died when four years old. For his second wife Theodore Scratch married Elizabeth Tofflemire, on Sept. 24, 1854, and they became the parents of four children...
