Information from Jan Livingstone, Pettypiece, RootsWeb WorldConnect Project.

Jan writes:
Erin lived her whole life on the farm she was born on, with the exception a few years after they were married and lived on Walker Rd. Essex Co. and for the last few months of her life, when she had moved into a retirement centre in Leamington, Ont. She was very active in the Church of the Redeemer Sunday School.

The following is a transcript of her obituary:
The Church of the Redeemer lost one of its lifelong workers when Mrs. Erin Pettypiece, 78 years, passed away at Leamington on Saturday. Deceased, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shuel was a caring contributing member who had been Sunday School Superintendent for several years, an active member of the Alter Guild and W.I.(Women's Institute) and took responsibility in their various offices through out her life. She took great delight in annually planting and caring for a beautiful flower border between the west wall of the Church and sidewalk which was a thing of beauty to onlookers. Her husband Russell passed away in Feb. 1973. Five children survive their dear and devoted mother. Douglas, Oldcastle, Brien, Niagara Falls, Ont., Thomas Agincourt, Nancy of Simcoe and Mrs. Joseph Livingstone (Janet) of Oregon. 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive. She was the dear sister of John R. Shuel of Oldcastle (deceased 1977), Robert E. Shuel of Maidstone and Banford Shuel of Windsor. The deepest sympathy of her many friends goes to her bereaved loved ones for we know how great is their loss. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Stephen's Anglican Church at 11 am, Rev. T. Koning officiating. Interment St. Stephen's Churchyard. Erin lived her whole life on the farm she was born on, with the exception a few years after they were married and lived on Walker Rd.
