David Hopgood, who is well located on Lot 277, Talbot Road South, Gosfield North, County of Essex, is a prosperous farmer and a true son of Canada, having been born on his present farm, March 22, 1855, son of James and Eliza (Jones) Hopgood.
     James Hopgood was born in England in 1809, and the mother in 1811... The young couple settled in Huron County for two years, and then came to Talbot street... His death took place Oct. 9, 1877, and that of his widow in October, 1889. They were most worthy, pious people, founders of the Methodist Church... The children born to James Hopgood and his wife were as follows: ... Jane, born at the present homestead, married Robert Fish, who resides on a farm in Mersea township, and they have had children, Carrie, Edith, Minnie, Jessie, Maud and Forest, the last named now deceased...
