Keturah Fulmer and her daughter Esther Fulmer were killed by an electric railway car on 1 May 1908 on their way home from a shopping trip. An account of the accident was published in a local newspaper:

"Mrs. J. J. Fulmer and Daughter Instantly Killed by an Electric Car on W. E. & L. S. Rapid Ry.

"Mrs. Keturah Fulmer, wife of J. J. Fulmer, and her eighteen year old daughter, Ester, 3rd concession Gosfield South, met a horrible and instant death on the level crossing, corner of the second concession and Division Side Road, same township, being struck by the W. E. & L. S. car Republic, Wednesday evening about 5:45 when returning from an afternoon's shopping in Kingsville.

"The car was driven by motorman Thomas Broadwell, and in charge of conductor Reginald DeLong, both of Kingsville, was running at a high rate of speed to make up time having left Kingsville about 15 minutes behind the schedule....

"The fatality was witnessed by several people who were working in the fields.

"Dr. W. J. MacKenzie, coroner, Kingsville identified them as he had just wheeled up, and had left Kingsville at the same time. Manager Warburton & Secretary Piggott were notified, & accompanied by Undertakers, Crawford & Healey drove out in a short time from Kingsville. The bodies were removed by the undertakers to Kingsville.

"There were 7 passengers on the railcar one of which was Arthur W. Marsh of the Echo, Amherstburg."
