John Parks, one of the leading farmers of Malden township, County of Essex, is a son of Jonathan Parks, who was born in Staffordshire, England.
     In his native shire Jonathan Parks learned the mason's trade, following same until 1841, in which year he came to Canada. In Staffordshire, on June 11, 1832, he married Susanna Hartshorn... Returning to Ontario, Mr. Parks purchased a farm of 100 acres in Lot 83, 7th Concession, Malden township, on which he resided until his death, in 1873. He added twenty-five acres to the original property. ...

     When he was twenty-two years of age, Mr. Parks married Miss Hannah A. Shepley, a native of Raleigh township, County of Kent, and a daughter of Solomon Shepley.
