John Parks, one of the leading farmers of Malden township, County of Essex, is a son of Jonathan Parks, who was born in Staffordshire, England.
     In his native shire Jonathan Parks learned the mason's trade, following same until 1841, in which year he came to Canada. In Staffordshire, on June 11, 1832, he married Susanna Hartshorn... Returning to Ontario, Mr. Parks purchased a farm of 100 acres in Lot 83, 7th Concession, Malden township, on which he resided until his death, in 1873. He added twenty-five acres to the original property. To him and his wife were born the following children: ... Sarah, born Feb. 20, 1835, married George Bratt, and died Jan. 27, 1860; ...
