Jacob Eede, one of the largest land owners and most extensive farmers in the township of Colchester South, ... was born in Gosfield township, County of Essex, Oct. 3, 1841, son of George and Elizabeth (Arner) Eede.
George Eede was a native of Sussex, England, born Jan. 21, 1812, son of Richard and Frances (Harrington) Eede. The Arner family, to which Mrs. George Eede belonged, was of German origin. Jacob Arner, her grandfather, was born in Pennsylvania, of German parents. As a mere boy he was forced into the American army, but being loyal to his king he escaped when the army was near the Canadian border, and in time made his way to the County of Essex, settling in Gosfield township, ... He married Barbara Arnold, who was born in Germany, but as a child was brought by her parents to America, her mother, however, dying on the voyage.
