Jacob C. Shepley passed away at his home here Saturday last. Mr. Shepley had been poorly for over a year from the effects of successive strokes of paralysis and during the last few months failed rapidly. Friday he began to sink and passed into unconsciousness from whch he never awakened. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted at the residence by Rev. D. E. Martin, and the remains were interred in Greenhill cemetery, the pall-bearers being Ernest Grant, Newell Woodwiss, Wm. Wigle, Clarence Bruner, Sol. Coatsworth and Isaac Whittle. The funeral was under the auspices of the A.O.U.W., of which order the deceased was a member. The Shepley family is among the most substantial in Essex County. Mrs. Shepley's maiden name was Alvira Wilcox, daughter of the late Asa wilcox, of Malden. They had a family of seven, five of whom are living--Ivan, of the W.E. & L.S. railway, Windsor, Elva, at home; Althea, teacher Kingsville Public School; Ethel, at Normal school, London, and Nellie, Mrs. Dundas, Mersea, to whom the sympathy of their large circle of friends is extended.
