Beverley Robitaille writes:
Obit Notice - One of the saddest kind of coincidences was a death at Ford Hospital, Detroit, Mich, Thursday afternoon, Jul 23. of Mrs. Alexander Mickle - well known Malden woman, about eight hours after her cousin and neighbor, Mr. Curtis Mickle, had passed away. The funeral took place Saturday afternoon to Rose Hill Cemetery two hours after Mrs Cutis was laid to rest. She had been in poor health for some time, and as she showed no improvement, was taken to Ford Hospital just a week before she died. Her condition was such that efforts of medical science were futile to save her. - she was born Maude Parks, daughter of the late Thomas H. and Catherine Sellars Parks, on the 7th concession. Her death was the second in the Parks family, her sister Althea, Mrs. A. M. Atkinson, having died a few years earlier. The others are; Mary, Mrs. H. D. Anderson; Kate, Mrs Norman Atkin; Agnes, Mrs William Sellars; and Johnathan G., of Malden. Mr. And Mrs Mickle were married about 35 years earlier and took up their residence on the farm, Mickle subdivision, where they spent their married life. Mr. Mickle survives her with a family of three; Thomas of Malden; Dr. Gordon and Miss Jean Catherine, of Toronto, to all of whom deep sympathy is extended. Mrs. Mickle was also a devoted member of the Wesley United Church, Amherstburg, a constant attendant and a useful worker in its organizations. She will be greatly missed. Rev. W. L. Hiles, assisted by Rev. J. E. Holmes and Col. Gaskin, conducted the funeral service, and a sympathetic vocal service was rendered by Mrs. Edith Irvine. The pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased; Mrssrs. Harold Anderson, Marwood Parks, Ralph Atkinson, Robert Gibb, Murray Gibb and Glen Mickle. Interment took place at Rose Hill Cemetery.
