John and Eliza (Harris) Stockwell, parents of Mrs. Fox, were, respectively, of Dutch and English ancestry, but both were born in the United States, and brought to Canada as children. John Stockwell was first located in Malden township, but he subsequently removed to Gosfield, where he spent his remaining years, following the occupation of farmer. As a soldier he participated in the War of 1812 and in the Rebellion on 1837-38. Mr. Stockwell was twice married. He wedded (first) Polly Botsford, and of this union there is yet living one daughter, Eliza. By his union with Eliza Harris were born children as follows: ... Mandeny, who married William Lenox
