"Late J. J. Stover - Passenger Ship Captain 25 Years - Captain John J. Stover, 73, ..., died at his home, 1014 Ward Street, Sunday morning. Captain Stover was born in St. Clair. At the time of his birth his father, John Stover, was serving as sheriff of St. Clair county, St. Clair at that time being the county seat... He leaves his widow Rebecca Stover, and two sons, Frank B. Stover, Detroit and John J. Stover, this city."

John J. Stover, Sr.
"Port Huron - John J. Stover, Sr., 73, of 919 Seventh Street, died Friday in Mercy Hospital after a short illness. He was a retired building contractor. Mr. Stover was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He was born April 24, 1901, in Port Huron and was a life-long resident. He married Mary Jane Cook May 25, 1927, in Port Huron. Mr. Stover is survived by his wife; three sons, John J. Stover, Jr., California, and Frank N. and Robert C. Stover, both of Port Huron, and five grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Canon D, Roy Lees of Grace Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Remains will be in the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church. Clark C. Mockles, Walter Duff, Thern Godbold, Arthur R. Ramsey, A. G. Ramsey and Eugene Knight will be pallbearers."

"Port Huron - Mary Jane Stover, 87, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 1995 in Mercy Hospital after a short illness. She was born Nov. 18, 1907 in Carsonville and has been a lifelong Port Huron area resident. She married John James Stover on May 24, 1927 in Port Huron. He died in 1974... She is survived by one son, Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. (Claudia) Stover of Port Huron; one daughter-in-law, Gloria A. Stover of Port Huron; eight grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. V. Jay (Sherri) Stover, Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Tricia) Stover, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen (Jodi) MacLean, Mark, Shawn, James, and Audrey Stover, and Nathan Hurst; six great-grandchildren, Dylan and Kendra MacLean, John Stover, Kevin, Elizabeth, and Frank Stover; and one sister, Helen Benson of East Syracuse, N.Y. She was preceded in death by two sons, John James Jr. in 1978 and Frank N. Stover in 1979; and one sister, Mildred Cook Smith..."
