Henry L. Dobbyn... was born September 9, 1846, and is the son of James and Margaret (Drake) Dobbyn...
On April 21, 1868, Mr. Dobbyn laid the most important stone in the
foundation of his success by his marriage to Martha Johnson, the daughter of Newton Johnson, deceased, both of whom are natives of the state of New York. Her family came to Michigan at an early day and Mrs. Dobbyn was engaged in teaching school in this district when she married. Their happy marriage has resulted in a family of four children, as follows: Ida B., wife of Elsworth Chorpenning, of Coloma; Alvin, an employee of the offices of the Michigan Central Railroad and located in Chicago; Minne, wife of E. Rockwell, of Coloma; and Daniel, of Covert township.
