Charles C. Scane ... purchased a farm in the 8th Concession of Howard township and there he followed farming for twelve years. In June, 1862, he married Amanda Stover, the estimable daughter of Reuben and Sarah (Delaney) Stover, one of the old and prominent families of Chatham, where Mrs. Scane was born in 1841. Her parents moved to Ridgetown in her girlhood and lived there until death in 1874. They left six children: Samuel, of Windsor; Abram, of Chicago; Lydia, the wife of Dwight Mickle, of Cass City, Michigan; Amelia, wife of James Fenesy (deceased), of Ridgetown; Sarah, the wife of William Jenks, a farmer of County Kent, near Thamesville; and Amanda, the wife of Mr. Scane...
