John Moorhouse Family:
John Moorhouse (1804-1857) married Lorenda Scarlett (1810-1855) in 1829. They resided at Lot 24, Con. 1. John and Lorenda had 12 children: Thomas S., Edward, Joseph, Anne, William Henry, Winnifred Maria, John Wesley, Sarah Jane, Lorenda, Matilda, Alfred and Richard. Edward (1833-1911) married Margaret Price and they had seven children. Joseph moved to the States. William Henry (1838-1902) married Margaret Kerby (1852-1928). Winnifred Maria married William Quick. They lived in Mosa Township and had 12 children. John Wesley (1842-1870) was engaged to Margaret Kerby, daughter of Squire Kerby, but took a cold when hunting coons and died. Margaret later married his brother William. Sarah Jane married David Wilson. When she died, David married Catherine, daughter of William Moorhouse. Lorenda married George Newman of Kent County. Matilda, who was known to have a beautiful soprano voice, married Hugh McTavish of Mosa Township. Alfred Scarlett Moorhouse married Nancy Elizabeth Armstrong, daughter of William 'Pap' Armstrong. He operated a cheese factory in the community prior to 1880, later moving to South Dakota. Richard Baxter (1852) went to California. Anne died at an early age.
