Obituary - Amherstburg Echo 1901 (copied by Violet Grant):
Hubbell - The hand of death has again been in out midst. This week we have to chronicle the death of one in the prime of womanhood. Surrounded by the family, relatives and friends, Mrs. Florin Hubbell passed peacefully away on Monday morning about 10 o'clock. She had not been well for over two years, but was not taken seriously ill until Thursday. On Sunday she had a fainting fit from which she never wholly recovered. Deceased was the oldest child of the late Moses and Mary Tofflemire. She was born on the Abner Ferris farm, Potleg, on May 22, 1851, and was thus only 50 years of age. On September 8th, 1871, she married Florin Hubbell and they have since resided in the village. Besides her husband, six children are left to mourn her loss; Gordon, Georgie (Mrs. Angus Brush), Nellie (Mrs. Victor L'Hereux) of Colchester, and Gertrude, Lydia and Johnny at home. Besides the children there are left five brothers and three sisters; George, Albert and Arthur, Sarah (Mrs. Andrew Holton) of Colchester, Annie of Harrow and Libbie of Anderdon. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. T.F. Whealan in Christ Church on Wednesday afternoon. The cortege left the house at two o'clock and the body was borne to the church by the following pallbearers: John B. Knapp, Matthew Dart, Edwin Wright, Arthur B. Brush, Willis Wright and Gordon Wright, assisted by Albert Klie, Henry Klie, W.G. Baldwin, Walter McCormick, James Howie and Clarence Wright. After the service interment took place in the old graveyard.
