MRS. LAWRENCE W. SHEPLEY
It is with the deepest regret we record the death of a most beloved and well known resident of this district, in the person of Mrs. Lawrence W. Shepley, who passed away at the family residence, river front, Anderdon, on Monday morning, after an illness of four months, in her seventy-first year... On January 20th, 1885 she was united in marriage to Mr. Shepley, who still survives... To Mr. and Mrs. Shepley were born six children, four of whom survive. One died in infancy, and their only son, Lieut. Gore Shepley, died in 1918 in Eastbourne Hospital, England, from effects of service in the Great War. Their four daughters are Miss Buelah Shepley, B.A., on the staff of the Goderich Collegiate Institute; Miss Evalyn Shepley, B.A., on the staff of the Amherstburg High School; Adeline, Mrs. Dewitt Derby, of Detroit; Miss Gladys Shepley on the staff of the Amherstburg Public School...

Commemorative Biographical Record of the County of Essex, J. H. Beers & Co., Toronto, 1905, p. 77-78:
Gore Atkin, one of the pioneers of the County of Essex, and a much-esteemed citizen of Amherstburg, is of English extraction, his family fleeing to Ireland during the administration of Oliver Cromwell...
On Nov. 5, 1845, Mr. Atkin was married to Miss Hannah Lypps, who was born in Colchester South, March 22, 1824, and to this union have been born these children: ... (8) Emma married Lawrence W. Shepley, a farmer in Maidstone, and their children are Beulah, Joseph Gore, Evelyn, Addie and Gladys...
